Ideas + date finder

100 and 1000 day anniversary ideas, with your exact dates

Your 100th day together falls about three months and ten days after the day you got together, and your 1,000th day about two years and nine months after it (exactly 2 years, 8 months and 24 to 28 days, depending on the months in between). Enter your date below for the exact days, then pick an idea: small ones for day 100, and ideas that look back on almost three years for day 1,000. Counting the first day as day 1, as many Korean couples do, moves each date one day earlier.

When is our 100th or 1,000th day?

Enter the day you got together. The list shows your next milestones, including day 100, 200, 500 and 1,000, with the exact date and how many days are left. Why couples count 100 and 1,000 days

Counting a relationship in days, not only in years, is a well-known custom among couples in South Korea. The 100th day is the first big one. The number 100 has long mattered there: families celebrate a baby's 100th day, a custom from times when surviving the first 100 days was a real milestone.

Many Korean couples count from the day they became official and call that day day 1. They mark 100 days, then often 200, 300 and 500, and 1,000 days stands out as nearly three years together. For day 100, a common gift is something small and personal, such as a letter or matching accessories; couple rings are a classic.

You don't need the custom to enjoy it: 1,000 days is a good excuse to celebrate between the usual anniversaries. There's no fixed rule, so if your partner grew up with the custom, ask how their family and friends mark it.

100 day anniversary ideas

Day 100 comes early, so keep it light. These cost little or nothing and work for a boyfriend or a girlfriend.

  1. A letter about your first 100 days

Ten small moments from the first three months, written down in order: the first message, the first time they made you laugh, the night you knew.

How to do it: Scroll back through your messages and photos to find them. Handwritten on one page is enough.

  2. Something small that matches

Matching keychains, bracelets or phone cases, or simple couple rings if you both like the idea.

How to do it: Keep it modest at 100 days. Engrave or write the start date on it so it's about the two of you.

  3. Go back to your first date

The same café, park or restaurant, at about the same time of day.

How to do it: Take a photo there. It becomes the first frame of whatever you make for day 1,000.

  4. A list for the next 100 days

Write down ten things to do together before day 200, from a new restaurant to a weekend away.

How to do it: Put it on the fridge or in a shared note and tick them off as you go.

  5. Your first 100 days in photos

Pick one photo from each week you've been together, about 14 in all, and put them in order.

How to do it: Print them as a strip or send them as an album with a short message on the morning of day 100.

  6. Your first 100 days as a 1-minute film

12 photos from your first three months, each one redrawn in the style you pick and brought to life as a short moving scene, in order by date.

How to do it: Add your photos to Once Upon Us and pick the two of you as characters from three drawings. A 1 minute film is $24.99. Make a 100-day film

1000 day anniversary ideas

By day 1,000 you have almost three years of photos, places and inside jokes. These ideas use them.

  1. Tell 1,000 days in 33 photos

1,000 days is about 33 months. One photo from each month, in order, tells your story from the first date to this week.

How to do it: Make a shared album and fill it together; a month without a photo gets the moment that came closest. The month-by-month plan for a first year works the same way. See the month-by-month plan

  2. One letter for each year

Three short letters: one about your first year, one about the second and one about the months since.

How to do it: Number the envelopes and open them in order over dinner.

  3. A trip back to where it started

The city, beach or neighborhood where you met, or where you went on your first trip.

How to do it: Recreate one photo from back then in the same spot and put the two side by side.

  4. A small photo book

Your 33 monthly photos with a line under each one.

How to do it: Online photo books usually take a week or more to arrive, so order about two weeks before the day.

  5. Celebrate it across the distance

If you're long distance, plan the day as a video call: the same meal in two kitchens and a box of small gifts to open together.

How to do it: Mail the box about two weeks ahead and write "Open on day 1,000" on it. Long-distance anniversary gift ideas

  6. Your 1,000 days as a 3-minute film

36 photos, about one for each month of your 1,000 days, redrawn in one style and brought to life in order, with your names in the opening and words on screen.

How to do it: You pay once, then check every scene before it comes to life. A 3 minutes film is $49.99, and it's usually ready the same day. Make a 1,000-day film

  7. A time capsule for day 2,000

Each of you writes a note to open on day 2,000, about five and a half years in.

How to do it: Seal the notes in an envelope with the date on it and put day 2,000 in your calendar.

  2. Mark 200, 300 and 500 days lightly

A favorite dessert, a short walk, a photo in the same spot each time.

How to do it: Small and regular beats big and rare; the photos add up to a timeline by day 1,000.
